KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has given his guarantee that his resignation as the Prime Minister would not hamper the momentum of the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination programme.
On the contrary, he said that Malaysia has one of the highest daily vaccination rate in the world and this must be carried on.
“Don’t worry, my Cabinet has ordered more than 87 million doses of vaccine for the population of the country, involving an expenditure of RM4.36 billion.
“This amount is more than enough for all of you,” he said during the Special Address just now.
If the vaccination programme goes according to plan, all Malaysians will receive their vaccine by the end of October.
He also expressed his hope that the new government taking over from him, will take care of the people as he did.
“I always care for you as I regard all of you as my children. That’s why I have emphasised that your welfare is the priority of the Perikatan Nasional government, a government that cares for the people,” he said.
Muhyiddin is also optimistic that Malaysia would be able to leave the pandemic crisis soon.
“I am excited to see the positive development in several hospitals in the Klang Valley, where, the admission rate for Category 4 and 5 Covid-19 patients have dropped.
“Hopefully, with the increasing vaccination programme, more lives can be saved and you all can return to your normal lives,” he added.
In his speech, Muhyiddin also thanked the frontliners who continued to work hard in battling the Covid-19 pandemic. He also thanked all civil servants who have given him the cooperation in executive the policies of Perikatan Nasional government. He also hopes that the policies which benefit the people will be brought forward in the future. –MalaysiaGazette
