KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin requested for everyone in the country to remain calm following his resignation, along with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) cabinet with immediate effect.

He also hopes that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong will be blessed with wisdom in choosing a new Prime Minister according to the Federal Constitution.

“Let us pray to Allah S.W.T. for the safety and peace of the country and unity of all Malaysians,” he said in a special address today on his resignation as the Prime Minister.

Muhydidin said, he had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara at 12.30 pm today.

“In the session, I have submitted my resignation letter as the Prime Minister, along with my whole Cabinet under Article 43(4) of the Federal Constitution as I have lost the majority confidence of the Members of Dewan Rakyat.

“This means that my whole cabinet and I have resigned,” he said.

Despite receiving sincere pleas from millions of Malaysians for him to continue serving the people, he did not accept those pleas as he has lost the majority confidence of the Members of Parliament (MPs).

Thus, his action is in line with his vow to always honour, protect and defend the Constitution. –MalaysiaGazette
