KUALA LUMPUR – The meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the main opposition leaders from Pakatan Harapan (PH) was focussed on the agenda that benefits the people.
The one and a half hour meeting was fully focussed on seeking the best solution to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The meeting which took more than an hour was focussed on agenda that benefits the people by seeking the best common ground to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
“Protecting the lives and safety of the people from the outbreak and to free the people from the claws of economy following the loss of jobs and income,” the leaders said in a joint-statement signed by Ismail Sabri and the President of PKR Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Secretary-General of DAP Lim Guan Eng and the President of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Mohamad Sabu.
Besides that, all four of them agreed to strengthen the Malaysia Parliament function as a responsible and constructive institution in creating check and balance in the executive governance.
They also said that the measure is needed to ensure that the Parliament is more transparent and fulfils the demands of the people.
“We also agree and understand the importance of freedom of judiciary, institutional reformation and good governance to ensure a more conducive environment for the people and country under the context of Keluarga Malaysia,” said the statement.
The meeting held in Perdana Putra was an extension from the orders of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah who wanted the political climate in the country to cool down. –MalaysiaGazette
