KUALA LUMPUR – The increasing Covid-19 vaccination rate in the Klang Valley has shown some positive early signs.
Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the Covid-19 admission into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of hospitals within the Klang Valley has shown a downward trend.
He said, in Sungai Buloh Hospital, there is a reduction of category 4 and 5 Covid-19 patients.
“This is in line with the increment of completed vaccination doses coverage.
“Let’s ensure that we and our family receive complete doses of vaccination to reduce the severity of disease and hospital admission, reduce the risk of ICU admission and reduce the risk of Covid-19 death,” he said in a Facebook post today.
This corresponds with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s statement that the Klang Valley can transit into the next National Recovery Plan (PPN) phase following the outstanding vaccination rate of over 80 percent.
However, he said that all decisions will be decided after he a meeting with the Special Committee to Overcome Covid-19 today.
“Well done Klang Valley for the outstanding vaccination rate of over 80%! With this, I think that the Klang Valley can transit into the next phase,” said Ismail Sabri.
Besides getting complete doses of vaccine, Dr Noor Hisham also reminded the public to adhere to SOP such as wearing face mask, if possible, double face mask and face shield.
Besides that, the people also need to adhere to physical distancing by avoiding crowded and congested places, chatting at close proximity and wash hands frequently.
“This is our efforts in preventing and curbing the spread of Covid-19 virus,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
