KUALA LUMPUR – Relaxation on interstate travel is among the agenda of the Covid-19 Ministerial Quartet Meeting tomorrow.

Senior Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said that the meeting will be focussing on reducing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) from the current 181 to only 10.

We need to fine tune the reduction of SOP to ensure no confusion would emerge in the future, he said.

“181 to 10 SOP refers to what we have announced earlier. The public should have already been informed about it but we understand that there are many confusing SOP, thus, we will try to make it easier to understand,” he said during a joint-news conference with the Senior Minister of Education, Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Desa Tun Hussein Onn (SMK DTHO), Kementah Camp after the Back To School Covid-19 Vaccination Programme at the Defence Ministry level today.

Elaborating further, Hishammuddin said that they would need to consider the phases of National Recovery Plan (PPN) in certain states before finalising on the relaxation for interstate travel.

Therefore, any recommendation on the relaxation will be discussed at the Special Committee to Address Covid-19 meeting.

“Any kind of decision we make would be related to the Special Committee to Address Covid-19 meeting, chaired by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“However, the recommendations comes from the ministers in charge of the sectors,” he added.

Hishammuddin said that the Second Covid-19 Ministerial Quartet Meeting tomorrow will also discuss about the pioneer travel bubble programme in Langkawi that started on 16 September, and activities involving the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).

Besides his ministry, among the other ministries that will be attending the meeting include representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM). -MalaysiaGazette
