KUALA LUMPUR – A lorry lost control and overturned at Kilometre (KM) 10.9 of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE).
The footage of the accident at the North South Expressway Central Link (ELITE Expressway) went viral, believed to be recorded by a motorist who happened to be at the location.
Shah Alam Deputy Police Chief, Superintendent Ramsay anak Embol said that preliminary police investigation found that the incident took place at around 8.30 am yesterday.
“The 33 year-old driver suddenly lost control of his vehicle, believed to have dozed off and his vehicle overturned.
“Several minutes later, a motorcyclist coming from the same direction failed to avoid the vehicle and rammed into the lorry,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier a two minute 54 seconds video footage went viral in the social media, showing a lorry overturned at the right lane of NKVE.
Ramsay said, the lorry driver was tested positive for methamphetamine in his urine test.
“The suspect was brought to the court for remand order today under Section 15(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“For the traffic offence, the case is investigated under Section 45 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under influence of drug,” he said.
