PUTRAJAYA – The Court of Appeal has granted the application of former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and temporary released his passport, enabling him to visit his daughter, Nooryana Najwa who will be delivering her second child in Singapore.
During the proceeding this morning, the three judges panel led by Datuk Seri Kamaludin Md. Said agreed to allow the application after hearing submissions from Najib’s lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah. Besides that, the prosecutor did not object to the application.
Others on the bench were Datuk Ravinthran Paramaguru and Datuk Abu Bakar Jais.
“The passport will be released to the applicant on 20 October to renew the travel document, and, the passport needs to be returned to the court on 22 November,” Kamaludin said.
Najib is scheduled to fly to Singapore on 3 November after the tabulation of Budget 2022.
Last Thursday, Najib, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) of Pekan filed the application as he needed to accompany his daughter.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court on Thursday had granted the approval to his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who wished to get back her passport for the same purpose.
Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan ordered for her travel document to be returned today and it must be returned to the court on 6 December.
Rosmah, in her affidavit said that Nooryana is currently residing in Singapore after she married Kazakhstan national, Daniyar Kessikbayev.
According to Rosmah, her daughter had previous high-risk complications while delivering her firstborn. -MalaysiaGazette
