Melaka polls: 11,557 early voters would cast their votes tomorrow – EC

PUTRAJAYA – 11,557 voters will be carrying out their democracy rights tomorrow (16 November) for the 15th Melaka State Election early polling day.

The Secretary of the Election Commission (EC), Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak said that the early voters will be casting their votes at 31 Early Polling Centres from 8.00 am tomorrow.

“These early voters comprise of 9,217 armed force personnel and their partner and 2,340 police officers,” he said in a statement today.

He added, the EC will ensure the compliance of Covid-19 prevention guidelines under the National Recovery Plan (PPN) throughout the early polling process.

This includes, the compliance on physical distancing, wearing face mask, using hand sanitiser, body temperature screening and recording their attendance.

According to him, the early voting process will be witnessed by the agents appointed by the candidates contesting for the seats.

“Besides that, the EC will also be broadcasting the voting process via live streaming on the EC’s official Facebook page.

“Right after the early voting process, all ballot boxes will be kept at the police station lockups.

“The ballot papers will only be counted on 20 November 2021 (polling day) from 4.00 pm onwards,” he said.

According to him, the calculation of ballot papers will be carried out at premises determined by the EC and the process will be witnesses by the candidates’ agents. -MalaysiaGazette
