KUALA LUMPUR – Opposition Chief, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is trying to bring the price hike issues to the Parliament as soon as possible as the price control mechanism is too slow.
“It does not match the government’s wish to immediately control the situation.
“Hearing and exchanging ideas with the traders, we found that the prices of goods and cost of marketing have increased tremendously,” he said in a Facebook post.
Earlier, Anwar with his wife, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) of Pandan, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and the MP of Lembah Pantai, Fahmi Fadzil went to make an observation at morning market of Kg Kerinchi under the Lembah Pantai Parliament.
Prices of vegetables, chicken, eggs and other essential items have increased in the recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said yesterday that he was ready to bear the responsibility if the prices of goods in the market are not stabilised by 9 December.
According to him, the price increment is a complex issue and it needs to be observed from various angles. -MalaysiaGazette
