SUBANG JAYA – i-Citra withdrawal cannot be used as the main plan to help the people to resolve their financial problem.
On the contrary, the President of Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA), Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said that the government must play its role in ensuring sufficient financial aid for the people.
Therefore, he said that the RM1,000 cash aid under Bantuan Wang Ihsan (BWI) needs to be increase.
“The responsibility of the government is to ensure that the flood victims, Malaysian citizens, get sufficient assistance so that it would affect their future.
“I am not trying to deny the i-Citra withdrawal but it cannot be made into the main plan. When there is a crisis, we do not have money, the plan A is to withdraw money from EPF.
“The government needs to ensure that the cash aid is sufficient to protect the people,” he said during a news conference today.
According to him, the government needs to provide more than one plan to help the people, especially the flood victims who suffered huge losses recently. At the same time, Syed Saddiq also did not reject that the i-Citra can be implemented according to needs.
“The priority is to ensure that the government provide sufficient aid and the other things can be turned into plan B and plan C,” he added.
The one-off RM10,000 EPF i-Citra withdrawal became a heated issue after the people are affected by the flood disaster.
However, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said yesterday that the government has no intension to allow i-Citra withdrawal as they think that the financial assistance and loan provided by the government to the flood victims are sufficient. -MalaysiaGazette
