JOHOR BAHRU – Datuk Mohd. Izhar Ahmad who left Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) recently is waiting for the right time to join UMNO.

The former Chairman of Johor Investment, Entrepreneurs Development, Cooperatives and Human Resources said that it would not matter if UMNO win or lose the Johor State Election, he would give his support to the party as UMNO is the only dominant political party in the country.

“I admit that it (UMNO) is not perfect. There is no perfect political party, but, UMNO is the most complete party which has the strength of grassroots where their voices are heard by the top leadership.

“So, if we want to go against them, I don’t think that it is a wise action. If there are weaknesses, it does not mean that we should destroy it, on the contrary we should help to fix it,” he told MalaysiaGazette, without sharing details on when he will join UMNO.

“As I mentioned earlier, I support UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN), however, it must be done through the right channel. Everyone is busy now, so, let them fight first and I will assist behind the scene,” he said.

The former Larkin State Assemblyman said that he decided to leave Bersatu after seeing that the party has lost its direction and did not uphold its agenda of establishment.

“In my opinion, the President of Bersatu (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) not only failed in bringing the party to a better level, he also did not work on healing it after it was cut off from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s group,” he said in his recent announcement.

Mohd Izhar was the candidate of Pakatan Harapan (PH) from Bersatu and contested on the ticket of PKR during the 14th General Election (GE14) defeating the candidates from BN, Datuk Yahya Jaafar and PAS, Zakiah Tukirin with the majority of 8,590 votes. – MalaysiaGazette
