KUALA LUMPUR – The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar ordered all candidates of future Johor Exco members who will be appointed to the post to declare their assets.

His Majesty delivered his decree to the newly minted Menteri Besar of Johor, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi yesterday. Onn Hafiz had an audience with the Sultan for almost an hour.

“They (candidates of future Excos) also need to go through the thorough background checks by the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

“Do not be offended if you are not chosen as the state Exco members. Everyone can give their best services,” His Majesty decreed to the Royal Press Office (RPO).

Sultan Ibrahim also ordered for a check on the validity of academic qualifications of the future Johor Excos.

“The election has come to an end. It is time for all people’s representatives to work together for the prosperity of Johor.

“I hold on to the words of Dato Hasni, no political ideology or party is bigger, more important, holds more priority than Johor Darul Ta’zim,” Sultan Ibrahim decreed, adding that the people’s fate must always be prioritised and the representatives must carry out their duties by serving the people.

His Majesty further decreed that the Menteri Besar must replace any Exco who cannot carry out their duties in the future.

“I also advised the Menteri Besar to focus on his duties and responsibilities towards the state and the people. Do not feel indebted.

“At this early stage, Dato’ Onn also needs to work with Dato’ Hasni in getting his opinion or advice,” His Majesty decreed. -MalaysiaGazette
