KUALA LUMPUR – The former Vice-President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein emphasised that the efforts to dissolve the Parliament should not exceed the power of and rights of Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
He said, all decisions will come at the advice of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“We should not overdo in ensuring things and we need to know our positions, the position of the party, the position of the PM and the responsibility and power to determine it is under the YDPA,” he told MalaysiaGazette today when met after listening to the speech by the President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during the UMNO General Assembly (PAU) 2021 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) today.
Yesterday, the Puteri UMNO wing demanded for the Parliament to be dissolved immediately to pave way for the 15th General Election (GE15), seizing the current opportunity and high spirits of the party members.
The Chief of the wing, Datuk Zahida Zarik Khan said that the spirits of the party members are heightened after winning the Melaka and Johor state elections.
Commenting further, Hishammuddin said that it needs to come with the stand of the party which would definitely place the interests of the people first.
“Let’s not neglect the rights to dissolve the Parliament, it belongs to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. At the same time, his decision would come together with the advice from the Prime Minister.
“We will wait for the stand of the party and I think that the decision will be delivered by the Prime Minister to the YDPA, who will determine everything about the GE15.
“The process runs smoothly and no one should fish in troubled water,” he added. -MalaysiaGazette
