MERSING – One of the missing divers, Kristine Grodem, 35, a Norwegian has been found safe by the rescuers at 12.05pm. She was airlifted to the Mersing Stadium by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) helicopter.
The dive instructor then boarded an ambulance and went to the Mersing Hospital for further treatment.
Kristine appeared healthy and is believed to be in a good condition as she could walk after she disembarked from the helicopter.
Four divers of foreign nationals went missing after a scuba training at the Tokong Sanggol Island in Mersing yesterday afternoon.
The missing divers were identified as Adrian Peter, 46, from the United Kingdom; and his 14-year-old son, Nathen Renze, from the Netherlands, Alexia Alexandra, 18, from France and Kristine.
Rescue teams are still searching for the three other missing persons, who are all experienced divers in the midst of upgrading their certification.
The MMEA kicked off the search and rescue operations after being alerted of the divers’ disappearance at 2.35pm yesterday. -MalaysiaGazette
