KUALA LUMPUR – The President UMNO regretted that irresponsible quarters implicated him with Siti Bainun Ahd Razali, the founder of Rumah Bonda accused of abusing and neglecting a Down Syndrom girl, Bella who hired 10 defence counsel for her case.
Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was dragged into the controversy after a picture of his family and the woman went viral in the social media.
He confessed to helping many people throughout his involvement in the politics, including those who came to him for donation and financial support in the name of charity.
“However, I will never protect anyone if they are involved in crime. Implicating me with the accused is baseless. As a leader, how can I reject any request for a picture?
“For example, if I praised a certain icon today for his or her kindness and greatness in my social media and after some, that person is accused of crime, would I also be implicated because I praised that person?” he asked.
Ahmad Zahid advised the public not to jump into conclusion and accused quickly upon reading or seeing anything. On the contrary, allow the court to determine the truth via a fair trial.
He also said that the allegations about him trying to influence the court in Bella’s proceeding is also baseless as he does not have any power to do so.

“I am not in the government to pressure the prosecution as what was done in the 22-month-government. If I truly have such ability, wouldn’t it be better to ‘protect’ my case?
“’Protect’ the court case against me by the 22-month-government right after they obtained the power. However, am I not in my plight to clear my name in the court as of today?” he said, hoping those who are trying to slander him for political mileage to stop doing it.
He also reminded the people that the holy Ramadan month should not be tarnished by such contradicting values.
The politics of hate and slander in the 14th General Election (GE14) should not be repeated in the GE15 as the people would become the victim in the end.
“I would like to make it clear here. Let’s not trust and accusation or preaching too easily. Study each news and story. If we are lazy to seek the truth, let’s not be diligent in spreading falsehood.
“Our existing sins may not be pardoned, let’s not add on more sins. Unless those who did it forgot or pretend to forget that this is the Ramadan month. Allah S.W.T. knows it all,” Ahmad Zahid advised. -MalaysiaGazette
