13 students arrested over bully case – Police

LANGKAWI – The police arrested 13 Form 4 students at a secondary school today, to assist into the investigation of a busy case.

The Langkawi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari said, the detainees are students involved in the assault of a student from the same school, as seen in the viral video of the case.

The arrest was made between 12.30 pm to 3.00 pm today at several locations, including the school and the homes of those students.

“At the moment, we found that only 13 students were involved in the incident. Five of them are the classmates of the victim, meanwhile, eighth  others are from a different class.

“The police are conducting investigation, including recording the statement from 13 students,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette today.

Earlier the police verified that the clash between the victim and the bullies was caused by a misunderstanding.

The incident was exposed after a video recording of the victim being stepped on, punched and kicked by approximated 10 other students went viral in the social media.

According to Shariman, the incident happened yesterday and the victim lodged a police report today. -MalaysiaGazette
